My Story: From Infertility to Motherhood

How did I get here?

‘Ya they’re blocked.’

These are the exact words that I heard as I laid there on the cold, stainless steel examination table after the technician shot liquid into my fallopian tubes to see if they were blocked. I will never forget that day.

I laid there ashamed and devastated as my fertility doctor and the technician stood over me and talked about my blocked fallopian tubes as if I wasn’t there.

Trying to hold back my tears, I went back into the changing room to get dressed and literally balled my eyes out asking God, why….why is He letting this happen to me?

During our subsequent meeting, after receiving the heartbreaking news about my fallopian tubes, we met with our fertility doctor, and with my husband sitting to the right of me, she coldly tells us:

♦ Both of my fallopian tubes were blocked and surgery was not an option

♦ The only chance we had of us getting pregnant was with IVF and because of our age (we were in our 40s), we only had a 23% chance of getting pregnant.

♦ She also told me that despite all the rigorous testing, they still couldn’t determine if I was ovulating or not

♦ And she also believed that I had PCOS (what the hell is PCOS)?

👉🏽 So I asked her ‘How did my fallopian tubes get blocked’? She had no answer.

👉🏽 I asked her ‘Could changing my diet or getting pelvic massages help?’ She flat out said NO.

We felt discouraged that day. But we strongly wanted another child and we wanted to give our son, who at the time was 4 years old, a little brother or sister.

So, we took the IVF info home with us and went over all the literature and watched the information videos.

It was at that point that we decided that IVF was just not for us.

♦  For one, it was expensive with no guarantees.

♦ And we’ve been through enough rigorous testing to find out why we weren’t getting pregnant already, so the idea of having to get injections on the regular was just not our thing.

At this point most people would have given up but we knew that we wanted another child and we wanted to conceive naturally and with God’s help there is always a way.

That very day we decided that we would try to get pregnant naturally, no matter the cost.

At that’s what we did….We changed our diet and incorporated more fruits and vegetables into our diets, we exercised, we took different herbs that was well known for boosting fertility, and we made it a point to not to focus on our inability to get pregnant and before we knew it, within 4 or so months, we got pregnant!

In January of 2019 I naturally (no drugs) gave birth to a healthy baby boy, while in my 40s!

This is a pic of me a few weeks before giving birth to my second son.

I tell my story because I don’t want women to lose hope if they hear that their fallopian tubes are blocked or that they have some other medical condition that is stopping them from conceiving.

If you are currently trying to conceive for more than 6 months with no success, I would suggest speaking with your healthcare provider and letting them know what’s going on.

Once you find out what is preventing you from getting pregnant, your health is in your hands and you can take the necessary steps to get pregnant naturally.

The reason I became a Holistic Health Coach is because over the years I noticed a huge gap in the healthcare system when it comes to actual healing, nutrition, and empathy.

My journey through four years of struggling with infertility helped me to realize that infertility isn’t an isolated issue; it’s becoming a common struggle for many women, and because of the healing journey that I went through, I want to share my knowledge and experience with women who desire to get pregnant naturally and who have been trying for a while but with no success

The path to conceiving naturally was not easy or inexpensive.

I know what it’s like to have to figure out when to time my period, how to track my ovulation, figuring out when’s the best day to try, being disappointed every time when I would miss my period for a few days and have that hope that maybe, just maybe….. and then be devastated because my period decided to come 4 days late.
