1. Is this goal obtainable?
2. How can I achieve this goal?
3. How can I make this goal successful?

Keeping it simple is the smartest element of time management. Put a plan in motion that works smoothly and effectively. You want a plan that is logical and simple; so that it informs you which steps to take next to reach your level of intended success. Motivation and focusing are often hard to do these days, but it is essential to managing time. Creating a to-do list can allow you to put your most important priorities at the top.

We need both short- and long-term goals. Sometimes it is easier to start with smaller goals and work towards long-term goals. An alternative is to break down bigger goals into smaller bite-sized pieces.

Time management involves making plans work, by developing skills and using actions that make the process run smoothly. The fact is, all things are always changing as a direct force of reality. 7 Steps to Improve Your Time Management

There are several steps that you can take to improve your time management.

1. Acknowledge You Have a Problem

Identifying the problem is the first step in time management. For example, if you are constantly late everywhere you go, it is time to realize you may have a problem.

2. Decide to Change

Wanting to change is more important than acknowledging you have a problem. Without the proper motivation, you can’t achieve any of the goals you set for yourself. Your goal could be to show up at work on time for a week.

3. Stick to Your Goals

Setting goals simply just isn’t enough. You need to stick with them. It is important that you don’t give up when you face problems or complications. For instance, if you get to work on time for two weeks straight, then have a bad day and show up late. Start again. Don’t let the setback drag you down.

4. Use Scheduling Tools

Creating a to do list, using a scheduler or planner is an easy way to manage your time properly. In fact, it is one of the easiest approaches that you can take. Outline what you need to do throughout the day in order of importance. In our always running late example, we could build extra time into our schedule to ensure it never happens.

5. Use Time Management Tools

Take advantage of all the time management tools at your disposal. Use timers, set reminders, set alarms, set alerts. There are so many apps that help you manage your time. For example, you could set an alarm to remind you for fifteen minutes before you need to leave for an appointment, so you aren’t late.

6. Learn to Say No

It is impossible to say no to all the tasks at work or home, but don’t take on more than you can accomplish. Alternatively, you can look for help from a co-worker or friend.

7. Get Organized

Organization is key to being able to manage your time properly, otherwise you will waste time. How many times have you searched for misplaced items? It is the biggest waste of time. For example, if you know where your car keys are, you won’t have to waste time searching for them and end up late to work or picking up your kids.
